Jiovanna and Humberto

Name: Jiovanna and Humberto

Kids: [Jiovanna] [Humberto]

Story: Jiovanna is a well-rounded girl who likes both indoor and outdoor activities. An artistic child who takes genuine pride in her artwork, she loves coloring and drawing and will take her time to get her pieces just right. Jiovanna is also very energetic and active and will offer to show you her special talent: she can do handstands and complete 17 steps walking on her hands!

Humberto is an engaging and active young boy. Though he can be shy at first, becomes friendly and outgoing once he feels comfortable with you. Humberto enjoys the outdoors and loves to run and jump so much that he is participating in gymnastics. This is also a boy who is fascinated by bugs!

Humberto and his sister Jiovanna are working on accepting responsibility, and learning to benefit from redirection and feedback. They are also learning how to ask to have their needs and desires met, and how to express their feelings appropriately. These special siblings really want to be adopted together, and they would do best with a two-parent family willing to continue to work with them in therapy and help them become the best they can be.

Name: Jiovanna
Age: 9
Gender: Female
Story: Note: Jiovanna is part of a sibling group and must remain with her sibling.

Jiovanna is also very energetic and active and will offer to show you her special talent: she can do handstands and complete 17 steps walking on her hands!

Like her younger brother Humberto, with whom she wants to be adopted, she would do best with two parents who can help her continue to learn to build her ability to trust and her sense of responsibility. She is also working on learning about the benefits of redirection and how positive feedback can help her. Like Humberto, she is also learning how to ask to have her needs and desires met, and how to express her feelings appropriately An adoptive family would have to be willing to support these two special siblings through continued therapy, and having patience with them while they make progress and become part of the family.

Josiah

Name: Josiah
Age: 7
Gender: Male
Story: Josiah is an active and energetic child that spends most of his leisure time outdoors. He enjoys riding his bike and jumping around on the trampoline. When not outside you can find Josiah curled up with a favorite book. He enjoys reading and is currently challenging himself by reading beyond his second grade level. Academically Josiah has done well and recently received a top Accelerated Reader award. Josiah enjoys going to school and has maintained good grades.

With incentive, Josiah strives to be well organized and completes his chores in a successful and timely manner. This young man is well mannered and thrives from positive affirmations. Josiah also flourishes when he recognizes that someone has genuinely taken an interest in his life.

A good family makeup for Josiah would be a family that is willing to give him a chance in life and accept him for where he is at, at this point in time. Josiah needs a family that is open and compassionate about accepting his loyalty to his birth family. He would benefit from individualized attention and being an only child. He would also do well in a home with teen siblings who could role model appropriate social skills and serve as positive mentors. Josiah would like to have some form of contact with his younger sibling.

Alexandra

Name: Alexandra
Age: 13
Gender: Female
Story: Alexandra, who likes to be called “Alex”, is a happy, outgoing, talkative young lady in need of a forever family. Alex enjoys watching movies, especially The Little Rascals, her all-time favorite! You can also find Alex listening and dancing to her favorite singer, Justin Bieber. She does enjoy and appreciate a good meal, but her food of choice would be ice cream and cake! While Alex says she would love her forever family to have a trampoline and a pool, if the family does not have a pool she is okay with them taking her swimming as often as possible, since this girl loves the water.

Alex benefits from being in special education in school. Alex is a special girl in need of a family who can accept her for who she is, and who is willing to support her in all her endeavors. Her adoptive family should be one that can offer structure, consistency, a willingness to work with a therapeutic team, and who would be committed to Alex throughout her life.

Damion

Name: Damion
Age: 6
Gender: Male
Story:

Damion is an energetic boy with a kindhearted spirit who loves playing soccer and practicing Tae Kwando. His ideal adoptive family would have two parents, including a strong father figure/role model, and where he would be the youngest or only child in the home. A family that balances quiet time and family activity time would be best for Damion, since he likes “alone time” but also craves one-on-one time with his caregivers. He really enjoys the outdoors, especially gardening, riding his bike, and visiting with his brothers. When it comes to school, Damion is excited about the chance to learn new things. Although he is sometimes described as shy or cautious, he would like to find a forever family who can give him the attention and stability he needs and deserves. Damion’s adoptive family would have to be open to supporting his visits with his siblings.

PENDING: A family is under consideration for this child. Please do not contact CYFD about him right now, but do feel free to continue to check on his status, which will be updated as his situation changes.

Jameson

Name: Jameson
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Story: Introducing loving and affectionate Jameson, who prefers to be called "Gabriel". From collecting Yu-Gi-Oh cards to gardening, to throwing footballs, to coloring in coloring books, this active guy finds fun in a whole array of activities. Riding bikes is another of his hobbies. Getting down into his roots, this young Navajo likes listening to Native American music. Playing video games indoors is another activity he loves. It may take this lad a while to warm up, but he is quite talkative, endearing, sensitive, outgoing and engaging. He does well around pets, especially dogs and cats. Pizza and seafood are the favorites but almost any food is loved by him.

In the eighth grade, Gabriel enjoys school, especially art. He currently benefits from an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) and counseling, which will need to continue after placement. Gabriel is not expected to live independently as an adult and will need a forever family who can advocate for him; however, he can have a wonderful future. Gabriel has a grandmother with whom he would like to remain in contact. This adolescent responds well to playfulness and kindness, which would be great for his forever family to have. The caseworker prefers a skilled, two-parent American Indian (especially Navajo) family; however, all family types will be considered.
