Picturing A Home For Every Child
Waiting Children:Flamisha

A bright and creative fifteen year old ninth grader very involved in her adoption plan, she would like a family supportive of her talents, her work toward making some decisions on her own and becoming independent, and her need to develop trust over time.

Flamisha’s strength of expressing her thoughts and feelings through creativity is evident in her musical talent, her poetry writing, and her drama class acting ability. She enjoys playing the guitar and sings in her Christian Rock Band. She has learned through her experiences in foster care that she is more successful if families allow her to make some appropriate teen decisions herself, which gives her the sense of control in her life which she says was lost in her past. In addition to this type of support, Flamisha will do best in a family providing structure, stability and guidance through compromise, which will help her develop the ability to make those important appropriate teen decisions, and will enhance her progress on her path to independence. She also needs encouragement and support to develop her many gifts and talents. Flamisha is very active in her plan of adoption and will be able to share with her future forever family that she wants a family that she can trust enough to feel safe and allow herself to attach, but that she will need the family’s patience and perseverance for that to fully develop. Flamisha will also need continued sibling contact after her adoption.

What a wonderful, sweet ball of energy Flamisha is. Right from the get go Flamisha was extremely personable and she made me feel as if we had known each other for a very long time. The experience of photographing her was so much fun and as soon as we got started a curious little cat decided that he was going to join Flamisha in the photo shoot. Well her magnetic personality kept him around the whole time and their interaction was precious. Flamisha made my job easier and the funny part was she is so beautiful that I was able to capture what I needed immediately but she was so enthusiastic that she wanted to keep going on to more and more locations. I think Flamisha could have shot all day!
